Summer at the Spykermans'

Davis and Daddy's first bike ride of the season...they made it to the end of the block before Davis began to wail. He didn't seem to like it very much, but hopefully we will try again when he is not so cranky!

Kevin and I out for birthday dinner at NoRTH, it was super yummy!

We are headed to Minnesota tomorrow, so I need to get packing! Bye for now.

From Pittsburgh, we traveled straight to the beach in North Carolina. We had a week of amazing weather, fun playing in the sand, and some nice bike rides. Davis had so much fun at the beach with Gigi and Grandpa and his Uncle Steve and also got to visit with his Great Grandparents and Great Aunts and Uncles and friends. It was an awesome trip!

Some parts of May

Davis and I visited family in Pittsburgh this May for my cousin Caroline's wedding. It was a very beautiful wedding, and it was great to see lots of family even though our visit was short. Davis had a great time with his cousins on the dance floor, and stayed up way past his bedtime.



Last month Davis also got to see his friend Claire, the sweet little girl of my best friend from college Elaine. They had a great time together, and Claire taught Davis many new words!

We are all very happy that spring is here! Davis absolutely loves being outside...he even started saying something that sounds like "outside" because he always wants to go out and play. Kevin has been working hard to help me plant a garden. We will see if we get any veggies to harvest. I even planted some watermelon seeds! I will take pictures and post if anything actually grows!

Some pictures below of us playing in the house...we recently repainted our living room, and when the ladder was accidentally left open Davis climbed right up and got stuck in that precarious position. It was pretty cute. He loves to get into his wheelbarrow and have us pull him around the yard like a little king! Tough work for mommy and daddy.

We had our first BBQ a few weekends ago when the weather was nice for a change. Davis is waiting patiently by the door to welcome our guests.

I am currently charging my completely dead camera battery...so there will be new pictures soon!

I can't believe how much it is snowing right now. Davis is very excited about it. He keeps looking out the window and oooooing and ahhhing. Davis is 16 months old! I can't believe that either. He just helped me vacuum the house and wipe the floors! I am trying to teach him to do some chores of his own, especially cleaning up toys! So far he is really good at putting toys back where they belong, but they don't stay there for long. He is really hilarious to watch run around all day long. He loves eating everything, climbing on anything he can, and making fun noises. His favorite word is "uh-oh!" He says it when he falls down, is about the throw something on the floor, or do anything else he is not supposed to. He LOVES jumping on the bed, something that we didn't want to teach him, but someone else did that for us! I wave my finger and say, "No more monkeys jumping on the bed!" And he waves his finger right back at me. It is amazing to see how much he is learning and experimenting every day! Some more pictures to come...

The next day of our journey we stayed with the Koethes' super cute place in the cities...
This is Baby Ella and I, the beautiful girl of our friend's Jonny and Nikole. She was so sweet and cuddly!

Davis had kisses for baby Ella. He also liked to steal her toys. Luckily, Ella was so laid back that she was willing to share.

davis meets baby daxton!

We made a trip up to Minnesota for New Year's to meet Kevin's friend Maurice's new baby boy Daxton James. It was great to see friends and meet the little one. He was precious. Davis and Daxton seemed to get along great.

Davis would kiss Daxton, but he also thought it was fun to bouncy his bouncy seat way too vigourously. Daxton was pretty chill about it though.

At midnight New Year's Eve...Daxton made it most of the night with us. Davis went to sleep at his usual time, so he missed this pic.
